How do you use the speed, distance, time triangle?

The speed, distance, time triangle is a tool used to solve problems involving these three variables.

test

It helps you remember the relationship between speed, distance, and time. The triangle is divided into three sections, with each section representing one of the variables: speed (S), distance (D), and time (T).

To use the triangle, cover the variable you want to solve for. The remaining two sections will show you the operation needed.

For example, if you want to find the speed, cover the 'S' in the triangle. You will see that distance (D) is over time (T), indicating that speed is calculated by dividing distance by time:

To find the distance, cover 'D', and you will see that speed multiplied by time gives you distance:

To find the time, cover 'T', and you will see that distance divided by speed gives you time:

This triangle is a handy for remembering these formulas.
